Adam L. Waltz Memorial Scholarships awarded to area students
LOGANTON — The Adam L. Waltz Memorial Scholarship fund was started last year in memory of Adam for his love of wrestling, football and other sports that he was involved in during his high school and college careers.
Wrestling was his passion and he was a state wrestling champ out of Bald Eagle Nittany High School (BEN) and he was a National Champ out of Lock Haven Teachers College (now Commonwealth University-Lock Haven). He was also featured in Sports Illustrated.
His family wanted to do something to honor his legacy and help high school seniors by offering scholarships to one male and one female in the Keystone Central area.
The 1st Annual Adam L. Waltz Memorial Scholarship recipients were chosen out of a slate of 14 applicants from Bucktail High School, Central Mountain High School and Sugar Valley Rural Charter School.
The female recipient was Kendall Rae Wagner, of Bucktail, and the male recipient was Cole Cooper, of Central Mountain. All of the applicants excelled in sports and academics, which made it a tough choice for the scholarship committee.
Scholarship organizers said they plan to continue this scholarship for many years.
If anyone would like to donate to this fund they can make their checks payable to Adam L. Waltz Memorial Fund and send them to 447 W. Winter Road, Loganton, PA 17747.
