Class of 1957

LHHS and ICHS Class of 1957 will meet on the second Saturday of each month at Restless Oaks at 9 a.m. Classmates and guests are welcome.

Blood Drives

The American Red Cross urges people to donate blood now. All blood donors are needed, especially those with type O blood. Several blood drives will be happening during the next few weeks that donors can attend. Visit the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to arrange an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed!

Blood drives will be held as follows:

July 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Penn State HUB, University Park

July 22, from 1-5:30 p.m., at Trinity UM Church, Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.

Aug. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington. St. Luke’s will be serving root beer floats.

Many local cemeteries are struggling with having enough funds to make sure that the grass gets mowed. Whatever cemetery your loved ones are buried in, please consider making a donation now to help with the grass mowing expenses.

KBR Bingo

KBR Bingo and More will not be holding their Friday night Bingo during the summer months.

The Friday night Bingos will resume in September

In the meantime, you’re welcome to join players on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 1 p.m. for special benefit Bingos to help individuals and groups in our community.

On July 11, a benefit Bingo will be held to help to pay the funeral expenses of the three family members who died from injuries in a car accident near Howard on Christmas day.

On July 19, a benefit Bingo will be held for Doug Darby, Jr., to help in his fight against leukemia.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. There will also be 50/50, rip tickets, Chinese auction and more! For tickets call Megan at 570-295-1643 or Debbie at 570-660-0031. All proceeds will go directly toward supporting the Darby family by helping cover medical expenses, meals and other essential needs during this difficult time.

Country Jam

The Back Porch String Band’s Country Jam will be held on Sunday, July 26, from 2-6 p.m., at the Yearick Center/Howard fire hall. Country Jam is held the fourth Sunday afternoon of each month except in December. The afternoon of music is free, and those attending should bring a snack to share with others there. A hat is passed for you to contribute a few dollars to thank the Howard Fire Company for allowing the folks to gather there for Country Jam each month.
