Easterseals Child Development Center showcases new accessible playground

STATE COLLEGE -- Easterseals Lance and Ellen Shaner Child Development Center has a second accessible playground thanks to funding from local foundations and community support. Funding for a rubber-bonded playground surface was provided by Centre Foundation's Centre Pact and Field of Interest grants, 100+ Women Who Care, Walmart Spark Good Local Grants and Willow Playworks. In addition, Centre County United Way Women United contributed a grant to purchase new playground toys and equipment.
The playground's surface was bumpy and became muddy after rain or snow. Children with disabilities had difficulty using walking aids around the playground. Now the rubber-bonded surface is smooth, and children of all abilities can play equitably.
