Local firefighter awarded for bravery in June
LOCK HAVEN -- Flash & Sirens of Clinton County, PA LLC recently recognized local firefighter Brock Brungard, of Citizens Hose No. 5 in Lock Haven, as a recipient of the Flash & Sirens Community Response Award for his courageous and selfless actions during a water rescue in Berlin, Maryland.
On June 30, Brungard responded without hesitation when four individuals, including two young children, were caught in a dangerous rip current near Assateague Island.
Drawing upon his training, courage and instinct to help others, he entered the water and assisted in the rescue effort, helping bring those in danger to safety.
As a firefighter, Brungard has already committed himself to protecting others through public service. His actions while off duty demonstrate that his dedication to serving others extends far beyond the fire station.
The Flash & Sirens Community Response Award was created to honor individuals whose extraordinary actions during emergencies reflect exceptional courage, selflessness and a commitment to their communities.
"Firefighters take an oath to serve, but Brock's actions show that commitment doesn't end when the shift is over," said Ashton Peters, founder and owner of Flash & Sirens of Clinton County.
