LOCK HAVEN — Families across Clinton County were invited to celebrate the joy of reading and connect with local organizations during United Way Community Day, a free family-friendly event that took place Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Triangle Park in Lock Haven.
Designed to inspire a lifelong love of books and learning, the event featured free snacks, crafts, games and interactive activities for children and families of all ages tied to familiar books. Community partners hosted book-themed booths, offering fun experiences while highlighting the services and programs available throughout Clinton County.
Attendees were given the opportunity to support their local United Way, learn more about the nonprofit organizations serving the community and register eligible children for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to young readers each month.
Each booth included a hands-on activity or treat such as a photo booth by The Ross Library, Plinko by Clinton County Housing Coalition, a tic-tac-toe relay race by the Clinton County Community Dental Clinic, cornhole by Infant Development Program, a planting station by STEP Inc., coloring activities by the WRCCA, the Stone Soup Garden grazing board by The New Love Center and more. Free refreshments and giveaways included bananas, popcorn, ice pops, snow cones, chocolate chip cookies and dental hygiene supplies.
