-- The City of Lock Haven will hold an additional public hearing related to the proposed comprehensive amendment and replacement of the city's Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) from 6 to 8 p.m. at city hall in council chambers, 20 E. Church St., Lock Haven.
Residents, taxpayers and members of the community are invited to attend the hearing to share their comments on the proposed ordinances. Comments can also be emailed to Cyndi Walker at cwalker@lockhavenpa.gov. Emailed comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Aug. 10.

-- The Alzheimer's and Caregivers' Support Group will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. "Staying Strong: Tips for Being a Healthy Caregiver" will be the topic. Caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or other diseases with accompanying memory loss is often difficult and challenging. Common signs of caregiver stress will be reviewed. The meeting will also be a time of sharing caregiving concerns with other caregivers. Educational materials from the Alzheimer's Association will be provided.

-- Join The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven for a packing party at Boxes of Hope, 10 E. Main St., Lock Haven at 5:15 p.m. By helping to pack care packages that are sent to women who are battling breast cancer, you would be making a difference in someone's life. This is also a great opportunity to talk to members of The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven and learn about other ways that they serve the needs of the community.
WEDNESDAY
-- Motorists traveling from Woodward Township into the City of Lock Haven today should expect a detour. The city's Public Works Department will be performing a routine closure of its flood gate at the Jay Street bridge next Wednesday, leading to its closure from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. that day. Traffic to the bridge will be detoured across the Constitution Bridge in Dunnstown, according to a release from city staff. Water Street will remain open during the exercise, but staff ask motorists and pedestrians to avoid its intersection with Jay Street as a large amount of public works vehicles and equipment are involved in the exercise.

-- The Sunflower Maze is now open through Aug. 16 beside the Farmer's Dottere /64 Beer store located along route 64, 6102 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall. The theme this year honors our United States 250th Birthday! The maze is open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The last admission into the maze will be 7:30 p.m. You can purchase your tickets at the maze for $7 a person and children 3 years old and younger are free. A portion of maze proceeds will be donated to our local Veterans Affairs. Come out and enjoy the beautiful sunflowers and the many photo opportunities throughout the maze and don't forget the lookout deck that allows you to climb above the field of flowers for a spectacular view of the 18-plus acres.

Glow Night through the maze has been very popular the last two years and is planned today from 9-11 p.m., with a rain-date on Saturday, Aug. 15. The price of a ticket is $10 a person and ages 3 and under are free. The ticket includes glow sticks and other glow accessories -- but feel free to bring your own. If you can find your way through the maze, a special treat of s'mores will be waiting for you.
-- Lemont Village Green concert, 7:30-9 p.m., featuring Mary Madigan, Ian Marshall and Joe Pillot. Check the website, www.lemontvillage.org, after 5 p.m. for weather conditions. Lightning will cause the concert to be moved indoors to the Granary. The concerts are free. Scout Troop 367 will have ice cream cones available beginning at 7 p.m. Your monetary donation for the cones will help the troop with their scouting activities. The concerts are held at the Lemont Village Green, 133 Mt. Nittany Road, Lemont.
SATURDAY
-- Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club will host a breakfast from 7-11 a.m., at the clubhouse (in Woolrich) at 84 Harley Drive, Lock Haven. The breakfast is all-you-can-eat and is just $10 for those ages 13 and older and $6 for children ages 6-12. Younger kiddos get to eat free. During the breakfast there will be a basket benefit for Doug Darby and his family. Doug has cancer and the benefit will help with providing for the family's needs while he's recovering.
Baskets are needed to make this a success for Doug and his family. Baskets can be dropped off at the SVBTM clubhouse the evening before or you can contact the club by Facebook or calling 570-769-7287 to arrange for a drop off time.
Basket winners need not be present to win -- they'll call you and you can arrange a pick-up time.
-- The Twisted Racquet-Tears will host a fundraising concert for Artpost Awareness at the Beech Creek Fire Company social hall from 1-6 p.m. Come out and sing-a-long to Country, Gospel and the Classics together. Lyrics are on a big screen for all to see and sing. Bring your instrument and play-a-long with the band. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available. The concert is designed to raise funds for Artpost Awareness and its mission to bring art and music workshops to senior citizens, combat veterans and families. Artpost Awareness Director George Stefanski routinely holds free art classes at the Friendship Community Library in Beech Creek and at the Lock Haven STEP Center each Monday. -- Music, glow golf and community spirit will come together for an unforgettable evening at Penn State Golf Courses as the Jana Marie Foundation hosts its first annual Shine On Community Concert and Night Golf Tournament. The family-friendly event raises critical funds to support youth mental wellness and suicide prevention programs throughout Central Pa. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with the Shine On Community Concert, featuring rising Nashville artist Caryn Dixon and opening performance by local favorite Area 38. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of live music while taking part in activities for all ages, including a mini golf course, yard games and opportunities to connect with friends and neighbors. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event. Tickets for the concert are $10.
At 8:30 p.m., golfers will tee off in the Shine On Glow-in-the-Dark Night Golf Tournament, a nine-hole event where the course is illuminated with glow sticks and players use glowing golf balls to navigate the course under the stars.
