Wednesday, Aug. 12:
-- Motorists traveling from Woodward Township into the City of Lock Haven today should expect a detour. The city's Public Works Department will be performing a routine closure of its flood gate at the Jay Street bridge next Wednesday, leading to its closure from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. that day. Traffic to the bridge will be detoured across the Constitution Bridge in Dunnstown, according to a release from city staff. Water Street will remain open during the exercise, but staff ask motorists and pedestrians to avoid its intersection with Jay Street as a large amount of public works vehicles and equipment are involved in the exercise.

-- Pleasant Gap Fire Company's Sunday flea market will be held. The fire company also holds a weekly flea market each Thursday through Aug. 20. The flea market will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food, produce, antiques, collectibles, crafts and more will be available at the flea market each week. Vendors are being sought for the weekly markets. -- The Sunflower Maze is now open through Aug. 16 beside the Farmer's Dottere /64 Beer store located along route 64, 6102 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall. The theme this year honors our United States 250th Birthday! The maze is open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The last admission into the maze will be 7:30 p.m. You can purchase your tickets at the maze for $7 a person and children 3 years old and younger are free. A portion of maze proceeds will be donated to our local Veterans Affairs. Come out and enjoy the beautiful sunflowers and the many photo opportunities throughout the maze and don't forget the lookout deck that allows you to climb above the field of flowers for a spectacular view of the 18-plus acres.

Glow Night through the maze has been very popular the last two years and is planned today from 9-11 p.m., with a rain-date on Saturday, Aug. 15. The price of a ticket is $10 a person and ages 3 and under are free. The ticket includes glow sticks and other glow accessories -- but feel free to bring your own. If you can find your way through the maze, a special treat of s'mores will be waiting for you.
-- Lemont Village Green concert, 7:30-9 p.m., featuring Mary Madigan, Ian Marshall and Joe Pillot. Check the website, www.lemontvillage.org, after 5 p.m. for weather conditions. Lightning will cause the concert to be moved indoors to the Granary. The concerts are free. Scout Troop 367 will have ice cream cones available beginning at 7 p.m. Your monetary donation for the cones will help the troop with their scouting activities. The concerts are held at the Lemont Village Green, 133 Mt. Nittany Road, Lemont.
