LOCK HAVEN -- The Covenant Cafe, an activity group for those in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, will be meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Riverview Park in Woodward Township. Participants can meet at the park at 1 p.m. and those who wish to carpool can meet at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. If the weather is inclement, the meeting will be held at the church.
The group will have a pizza party followed by a drumming activity led by volunteer Kitty Oechler and a game of "Granny Pants" led by volunteer Deb Moore.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Nurturing, Outreach and Worship Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer's Support Group and the Alzheimer's Association. Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible. Individuals and families who are interested in being involved in this free program, which meets the first and third Tuesday of each month, are invited to call Fran Decker, MSW, at 570-748-4302 or 570-263-2084 for more information.
