LOCK HAVEN -- Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. is bringing the barnyard to the city with Farm to City Fest this Final Friday on Aug. 28 from 3 to 9 p.m. along East Main Street.
With the street closed from Jay to Vesper, the festival -- held in collaboration with the Clinton County Conservation District -- is designed to recognize the role of agriculture and farming in the community as well as celebrate downtown merchants and businesses.
Allied Milk Products is bringing Allie Moo, a mechanical talking and milking cow to East Main Street to educate families about the impact of dairy farming to the agriculture industry in the Commonwealth.
Exhibitors include 4-H, Farm Bureau, Clinton County Conservation District, Cooperative Extension and DCNR-Sproul State Forest.
Local vendors and crafters will also display and sell their wares throughout the two blocks.
A "Launch Party" for the fest will be held at The Haven Exchange, 104 E. Main St., from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and will feature live entertainment by Bobby 5's Music Show and free select appetizers courtesy of Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. Attendees must purchase their own beverages.
The Twisted Racquet-Tears will perform on stage in front of The Haven Exchange from 6 to 9 p.m. and Flashback will be live in front of Stella A's from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
A highlight of the fest is a kid's music show featuring renowned children's musician Steven Courtney inside the Susquehanna Event Center, formerly the Elks. His show will emphasize live, kindness, laughter and friendship and is a non-ticketed free event sponsored by Downtown Lock Haven.
Other family friendly activities include a bounce house, free popcorn outside of the Downtown Lock Haven office at 205 E. Main St., Fye Funny Farm Petting Zoo, Simplicity the Clown and Boston Bachert, professional juggler.
Pole Cat Hollow Farm will sell grassfed chicken meats from their local farm. Whisker Pop Face by BadMynx Design will have free children's face painting and temporary tattoos.
Two Maidens Ramen Cafe and Tea Room at 108 E. Main St. will be serving soup dumplings with pork from Pole Cat Hollow Farm in Howard and vegetables from Chub Run Produce in Mill Hall. A costumed chicken character will be available for selfies, too.
Some downtown merchants such as Addie's and Caramia's Reloved Fashion will offer substantial savings discounts and store activities.
Shopping and dining downtown is encouraged for everyone at the event.
