Preparations continue for upcoming Regatta

LOCK HAVEN -- Laying the groundwork for the 55th Annual Lock Haven Regatta Foundation Labor Day Regatta continues leading up to the event Sept. 4-7 along and in the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Lock Haven.

On Sunday, foundation members Doug Wenker, DuWayne Kunes and Bill Esposito installed the propane tanks fueling the pizza trailer. Final preparations continue for that stand along with the hot sausage trailer, and proper lighting and electricity for the many other vendor stands, arts and crafts displays and carnival rides on East Water Street from Jay to Henderson streets, and in Canal Park in Lock Haven.

The regatta features carnival rides, food, games, craft vendors, powerboat racing and fireworks Sunday, Sept. 6, at 10 p.m. Rain date is Monday, Sept. 7, at 9 p.m.

Midway and arts and crafts hours are Friday, Sept. 4, from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Clinton County Commissioner Angela Harding will present the opening ceremonies Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.

The Lock Haven Labor Day Regatta won the Best Site of the Year award from the American Power Boat Association (APBA), recognizing the event for its exceptional race quality, strong attendance and vibrant atmosphere.

The award-winning boat races are sanctioned and presented by the Delaware Valley Outboard Racing Association (DVORA).
