CASTANEA -- For the love of dogs, runners and their four-legged companions gathered at the Castanea Fire Company Picnic Grounds on Aug. 1 for the Clinton County SPCA's annual Furry 5K and 1-Mile Dog Jog.
The event brought together community members and their canine friends for a morning of exercise, fun and fundraising in support of the Clinton County SPCA. Participants could choose between the 5K race and the 1-Mile Dog Jog, with both events welcoming dogs of all sizes.
Registration for the event included a race shirt, water, snacks and prizes for both human and canine participants. Children under 10 were able to participate free of charge when accompanied by a registered adult.
"We had a great time at the SPCA's annual Furry 5K and 1-Mile Dog Jog," organizers said following the event. "Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the SPCA."
In the Furry 5K, Reeves Bellinger crossed the finish line in first place overall. Kyle Scott and his dog, Sunny, earned second place overall while also being recognized as the event's Top Dog. Liz McCloskey rounded out the top three finishers.
The 1-Mile Dog Jog was won by Jessie Cecil. Brian Brown finished in second place, while Jordyn Leupold secured third place honors.
The annual event serves as one of the Clinton County SPCA's community fundraisers, helping support the organization's mission of caring for homeless, abandoned and neglected animals throughout the region.
In addition to the races, participants enjoyed a pet-friendly atmosphere while spending time with fellow animal lovers and supporting a worthy cause.
The Clinton County SPCA extended its gratitude to the many sponsors who helped make the event possible, including RoseBird Veterinary Center, Bill's Happy Camper RV Sales & Services, The Incredible K9, H.W. Raymond Co., Inc., Raymond's Office Works, Woodlands Bank, Central Pennsylvania Auto Auction, Marconi's Auto Sales and Service, Addie's Inc., Miller Brothers Auto Sales, Brigandi, Gleghorn & Haffley Insurance Agency, Davis Real Estate, Action Equipment and A.W. Lugg Building Contractor.
Organizers also offered a special thank you to Brigandi, Gleghorn & Haffley Insurance Agency for donating the water provided throughout the event.
The Furry 5K and 1-Mile Dog Jog continue to be a popular annual tradition in Clinton County, bringing together people and pets for a day of fitness, fun and community support while raising awareness and funding for local shelter animals in need.
