Monday, Sept. 28:
-- Blood Drive, 1-5:30 p.m., at Trinity UM Church, Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
-- Drawing class at Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek. Class is free for those age 12 and older and runs from 4:30-6 p.m. Those who want to learn to draw are invited, as well as those with more experience who would like to learn to enhance their drawing skills and techniques. The drawing class is held each Monday.

-- Covenant UM Church's Walk by Faith program, 6 p.m., at McElhattan Old River Road. Meet in the parking lot. Bring a friend, walk for exercise and fellowship with others. Weather permitting! -- Howard Area Lions will be collecting donations for White Cane Days at local businesses.
-- The early birder sees the birds! Experience an unpredictable morning of bird watching at Bald Eagle State Park at 8 a.m. to become acquainted with birds that migrate through or inhabit central PA. Binoculars will be available to loan on a first-come, first-serve basis. All levels of birding experience are welcome. Meet at the Winter Launch parking lot.

-- Centre Hall Fire Company's First Friday Bingo. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., early bird games start at 6:30 and regular Bingo at 7 p.m. The fire company's "bonus organization" to help during this Bingo is Relay for Life in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Wear your pink to the Bingo. In addition to Bingo there will be lots of good food and also rip ticket sales.
Saturday, Oct. 3:

-- St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown is holding a Free Book Fair and Costless Closet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event offers free books and media, puzzles, games, cd's, and also gently used clothing. Donations of books and cd's will be accepted, but no encyclopedias. Please bring unexpired food items or monetary donations for the local food banks. Various foods and baked goods will also be available for purchase at the church. Doors open at 9 a.m. Sorry, no early sales! Call 814-383-4882 for info.
-- Annual Knit N' Run and Brunch at Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall. Come at 10 a.m. for brunch and meet the bikers of Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club as they brunch with the Prayer Shawl Ministry needleworkers before heading out to deliver many lap robes, afghans and more creative gifts to area hospitals and nursing homes. -- State Rep. Paul Takac is partnering with the Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority for a free document shredding event and pet supply drive supporting Centre County PAWS.
From 9 a.m. to noon, the public is invited to join Takac and members of his staff at CCRRA's campus, 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte, to safely and securely shred their personal documents. During the event, community members can drop off animal supplies for PAWS, Centre County's largest animal shelter.
Acceptable donations include unopened dog and cat food (both dry and wet foods), unopened pet treats, clean blankets, new dog and cat toys, trash bags, paper towels, xylitol-free peanut butter, medium/large Easy Walk or Freedom harnesses and dog waste bag rolls.
Interested participants can RSVP through Takac's website, though walk-ins are welcome. Only paper products will be accepted for shredding and should be placed in disposable containers, which will not be returned.
