LOCK HAVEN -- Medical debt is a problem in Clinton County, with about 1,900 people in the county owing an average of over $1,000 in medical bills, according to the Urban Institute.
To help reduce the county burden, the Clinton County Democratic Committee (CCDC) is hosting a Baked Potato Bar on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 3-6:30 p.m., at the CCDC Office Headquarters, 120 E. Walnut St., Unit #3, Lock Haven, PA 17745 (The Save-a-Lot Plaza)
Reserve a spot and join the committee for a loaded baked potato, all the toppings, a drink and dessert. Dinners are available for either eat in or take out. The cost is $15 for adults, $12 for youth 10-17 and children under 10 free. Reservations can be made by email at clintoncountypademocrats@gmail.com. The committee asked you to make your reservation by Wednesday, Sept. 24 so they can plan for enough food.
"Medical debt shouldn't decide anyone's future. Every dollar raised goes directly toward relieving that burden for our neighbors carrying it. Monies raised will be handled by a nonprofit dedicated to reducing debt," a release from the CCDC said. "This reduction in debt will be distributed based on income and need, on a non-partisan basis. This protects medical privacy for individuals who will be notified by mail in October."
