LIGHTHOUSE CAMP CONCERTS
Concerts are coming to an end at the Lamar Lighthouse Camp for this summer. Only two more concert weeks left. Concerts are held each Sunday evening beginning at 6 p.m. The concerts are free, with a love offering taken each week.
The Fuller Family Singers will be in concert on Sept. 20. GloryWay will close out the summer concert series on Sept. 27.

EVANGELISM WORKSHOP
Liberty Baptist Church at 100 Bald Eagle St. in Blanchard would like to invite you to join us for a Free Evangelism Workshop on Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in their Fellowship Hall. This workshop will encourage, equip and strengthen believers in sharing the hope of the Gospel within their communities. This workshop will offer practical and easy to remember tools, biblical encouragement and meaningful fellowship as we work together to reach others with Christ's love. JACK'S HOAGIES
Jack Miller will be making his famous hoagies again for the community as a fundraiser for the Yarnell Church to cover expenses at the Yarnell Community Center.
Hoagies will be made on Oct. 8, 9 and 10, and can be picked up on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Prices will be for a regular-$10; ham-$12; turkey-$12; roast beef-$13, cheese steaks-$15 and Canadian bacon-$15.
Orders must be called in or dropped off to Jack before Sept. 27. Walk-in sales will be accommodated while supplies last. Jack can be reached at 814-280-0524.
Back in May Jack and his crew of helpers made 330 hoagies for folks of the community to enjoy. The proceeds are used for taxes, heating oil, utilities and maintenance at the YCC.
YARD SALE RESCHEDULED
Fairview Church will have a Mega Yard Sale at the home of Pastor Dave and Sabrina Etters on Sept. 24-26, weather permitting. The yard sale was planned for this week, but the weather didn't cooperate very well, so it's being rescheduled for next Thursday through Saturday.
I talked to Sabrina on Wednesday and she said that they have an abundance of things to sell, so she wants to have good weather for the yard sale. Sabrina indicated that a couple older couples in their church congregation have moved and downsized, so there are a lot of good, clean and useful items that you won't want to miss!
The Etters' live along Route 150 directly across the highway from the Twin Kiss Restaurant between Howard and Milesburg.
Donations for the yard sale are still being accepted and can be dropped off at the Etters' home anytime or by calling 814-355-2815 to arrange a convenient drop off time so the items can be put under cover.
Yard Sale times will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
If it's calling for rain next week during the yard sale days then the sale will be postponed until the following Thursday! Call Sabrina to check in with her anytime to see if the sale is on or postponed!
The money raised from the yard sale will be used by the church to reach out to folks of the community through various ways.
GRANGE & VFW EVENTS
-- Howard Grange is having a Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Sept 26, at the Howard VFW Post 8269. The chicken should be ready by 11 a.m. and will be on sale until sold out. The cost for a full meal will be $15 and includes the chicken, macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans and a roll.
-- Howard Grange meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Howard fire hall. Come to a meeting and learn what activities the Grange is working on and who they are helping!

-- The Howard VFW Club is planning a Cash Bingo on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Howard fire hall. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the VFW Club. A basket raffle will be held during the Bingo. Donations of baskets and prizes for the raffle are requested and will be very much appreciated! You can drop your baskets off at the VFW Club anytime it's open.
-- The Howard VFW Club will offer an All-you-can-eat monthly brunch on Sunday, Oct. 11. The brunch runs from 10 a.m. until noon and the cost is $12 per person. Additional brunches will be held on Nov. 8, Dec. 20, Jan. 10 and Feb. 14.
LIONS NEWS
-- Snow Shoe Lions Club has a fundraiser going on to benefit their club. Lion members are selling "Lucky Lotto" raffle tickets for $5 each for a chance to win $1,000 in Lottery scratch off tickets. The winning number will be the one drawn in the Pick 3 Lottery game on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from any Lions Club member. Get your tickets today before they are sold out!
-- Snow Shoe Lions Club will be selling their Lucky Lotto tickets at the Snow Shoe Fall Festival and Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 19. The car show includes cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors. Prizes will be awarded! At the festival you'll also find craft and food vendors, a Chinese auction, kid's game, a petting zoo, chainsaw carving and more! There's a kid's powerwheels parade so bring your powerwheel along to participate! Free admission and free parking!
-- Milesburg Lions Club holds a weekly Bingo every Thursday night at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6:45 p.m.
-- Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution will be on Monday, Sept. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the former Beech Creek Elementary. Bring a sturdy box and any empty egg cartons you have.
-- Howard Area Lions Bingo will resume on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Beech Creek-Blanchard Fire Company social hall. Doors and the kitchen open at 5:30 p.m., with Bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. The Lions took a summer break from Bingo, but are ready to welcome players once again.
Lions Bingo is normally held on the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each month.
I hear there's going to be a $5 price increase in the Bingo game packets and that's only because the cost of the materials from the Bingo supplier has increased for the Lions Club.
-- Howard Area Lions will be collecting donations during White Cane Days on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.
The Lions will be sitting outside four local businesses and if you want to give just drop your donation into their canisters. White Cane Days benefits programs for those who are blind.
BUS TRIP
The Cheerful Workers group of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church is sponsoring a bus trip to the Grove City Outlet Center on Saturday, Nov. 7, departing the Howard Elementary School at 7 a.m. and returning to Howard around 8 p.m. If you'd like to go along, reserve your seat early. There needs to be at least 40-50 people sign up to go for the trip to happen. The cost will be around $50-$55 per person. Reservations are due before Oct. 5. -- Pleasant Gap Fire Company's Fall Fest will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon to 7 p.m., at 475 Robinson Lane, Pleasant Gap. The fall festival will feature live music, kids activities, food and craft vendors, and beer and wine vendors. The fire company is also selling cash raffle tickets for six prizes of $500 each. See any fire company member or get yours during the fall festival, while supplies last.
-- Millheim Fire Company's Oktoberfest will be on Sept. 26, from noon to 5 p.m. The fall fest features live oompah music, prizes, German Food and more. ID is required to purchase adult beverages.
Be sure to buy your gun raffle tickets, $10 each or 3/$20, for the April 10, 2027, gun/cash raffle and place your sausage orders with any fire company member. Sausage sale pick-up dates are in mid-November. See the fire company's Facebook page for more info.
-- Howard Fire Company's Annual Punkin Chunkin Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Bald Eagle State Park. Free admission, free parking, lots of family friendly activities, many craft vendors and lots of good food, and you get to see pumpkins launched into the lake.

-- The Tussey Mountain Moonshiners will be the featured musicians at the Lemont Village Green's free concert this evening. The band members will be entertaining from 7-8:30 p.m. Check the website, www.lemontvillage.org, after 5 p.m. to see if the concert is being moved indoors to the granary.
-- Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club will host a breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7-11 a.m., at the clubhouse (in Woolrich) at 84 Harley Drive, Lock Haven. The breakfast is all-you-can-eat and is just $10 for those ages 13 and older and $6 for children ages 6-12. Younger kiddos get to eat free. -- The last free concert of the summer series at the Lemont Village Green's will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, and will feature The Tellegrassers. -- The Back Porch String Band will have their Country Jam on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 2-6 p.m., at the Yearick Center/Howard fire hall. Country Jam is held the fourth Sunday afternoon of each month except in December. The afternoon of music is free, and those attending should bring a snack to share with others there.

-- On Monday, Sept. 21 and Sept. 28, from 4:30-6 p.m., you can learn to draw or enhance your sketches by getting instruction at the Friendship Community Library in Beech Creek. -- St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown is holding a Free Book Fair and Costless Closet on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event offers free books and media, puzzles, games, cd's, and also gently used clothing. Donations of books and cd's will be accepted, but no encyclopedias. Please bring unexpired food items or monetary donations for the local food banks. -- The Advent Historical Society announces a live concert event at the Advent Church, 1303 Moose Run Road, Bellefonte, on Sunday, Oct. 4. The upcoming Octoberfest performance will feature The Little German Band from State College. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and the show starts at 2 p.m. The concert will be followed by an apple cider and doughnut reception.
This event is free, open to the public and is suitable for all ages. Donations are accepted towards the preservation and upkeep of the historic site.

-- Beech Creek Wesleyan Church will host the New Love Center's Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Individuals are invited to come into the church for a short pre-registration before obtaining the free food. Bring along any small boxes or reusable bags that you might have for transporting your food items in lieu of using the pantry's supply of plastic bags.
-- Faith Chapel's Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will be open on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Faith Chapel, 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard. This is the last sale of the year offering gently used, good quality clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family. Sizes range from infants to 3X and are priced at $5 per bag full. Bargains and Blessings Community Closet is an outreach ministry of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church that serves Beech Creek, Blanchard, Howard and the surrounding areas.
