LIGHTHOUSE CAMP CONCERTS
Concerts are coming to an end at the Lamar Lighthouse Camp for this summer. GloryWay will close out the summer concert series on Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. The concert is free, with a love offering being taken.

JACK'S HOAGIES
Jack Miller will be making his famous hoagies again for the community as a fundraiser for the Yarnell Church to cover expenses at the Yarnell Community Center.
Hoagies will be made on Oct. 8, 9 and 10, and can be picked up on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Prices will be for a regular-$10; ham-$12; turkey-$12; roast beef-$13, cheese steaks-$15 and Canadian bacon-$15.
Time is running out for you to place your order. Orders must be called in or dropped off to Jack by Sunday, Sept. 27. Walk-in sales will be accommodated while supplies last. Jack can be reached at 814-280-0524.

CURTIN VILLAGE EVENTS
Tours of Curtin Village and Eagle Iron Works will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. Visitors are invited to journey into Pennsylvania's ironmaking past during the season's final guided tour of Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village, 251 Curtin Village Road, Howard. The tour begins with an orientation video and continues with a "show-and-tell" explanation of the ironmaking process, an introduction to Eagle Iron Works founder Roland Curtin and interior tours of the Curtin Mansion and the Eagle Furnace complex.
Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. The tour will be held rain or shine. Admission is by donation.
Mark your calendars, too, for the annual Apple Fest on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will press 35 bushels of apples into fresh cider, available for purchase along with homemade bread and apple butter, apple-cider doughnuts, grilled chicken and more.
FALL FESTIVAL
The Walker Township Fall Festival will be held tomorrow, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the main pavilion area of Walker Township Park, 816 Nittany Valley Drive, Bellefonte. The Fall Festival is a FAMILY FUN event! Take this opportunity to enjoy the many free activities, including pumpkin decorating, crafts, games, entertainment and scarecrow making! Community groups will be selling a variety of food and drinks. A variety of craft vendors will also be set up. Come out and enjoy the day in Walker Township Park. YARD SALE IS A GO!
Fairview Church is having a Mega Yard Sale at the home of Pastor Dave and Sabrina Etters on Sept. 25-26.
I talked to Sabrina on Wednesday morning and they had already begun to set up for the sale. She was expecting some folks from their church to arrive to help with putting up the canopies and tables and getting all of the boxes of things moved from their shed to the yard sale site.
Sabrina had told me last week that a couple older couples in their church congregation have moved and downsized, so there are a lot of good, clean and useful items that you won't want to miss!
The Etters' live along Route 150 directly across the highway from the Twin Kiss Restaurant between Howard and Milesburg.
Yard Sale times will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The sale will be closed on Sunday, but if shoppers stop they can drop their donation in a canister for the things that they take. And, if there's good weather on Monday and Tuesday Sabrina may keep the yard sale open and try to get rid of more things before packing them away.

The money raised from the yard sale will be used by the church to reach out to folks of the community through various ways.
GRANGE & VFW EVENTS
-- Howard Grange is having a Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Sept 26, at the Howard VFW Post 8269. The chicken should be ready by 11 a.m. and will be on sale until sold out. The cost for a full meal will be $15 and includes the chicken, macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans and a roll. -- The Howard VFW Club is planning a Cash Bingo on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Howard fire hall. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the VFW Club. A basket raffle will be held during the Bingo. Donations of baskets and prizes for the raffle are requested and will be very much appreciated! You can drop your baskets off at the VFW Club anytime it's open.
-- The Howard VFW Club will offer an All-you-can-eat monthly brunch on Sunday, Oct. 11. The brunch runs from 10 a.m. until noon and the cost is $12 per person. Additional Sunday brunches will be held on Nov. 8, Dec. 20, Jan. 10 and Feb. 14.
LIONS NEWS
-- Snow Shoe Lions Club has announced the winner of their "Lucky Lotto" raffle prize. Carol Rajkovic purchased ticket # 561 -- the Pick 3 Lottery number drawn on Sept. 22. Congratulations to Carol, and I hope her luck continues when she scratches off all those lottery tickets.
-- Milesburg Lions Club holds a weekly Bingo every Thursday night at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6:45 p.m.
-- Howard Area Lions will be collecting donations during White Cane Days on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.
The Lions will be sitting outside four local businesses on Friday and Saturday and if you want to give just drop your donation into their canisters. White Cane Days benefits those who are blind.
BUS TRIP
The Cheerful Workers group of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church is sponsoring a bus trip to the Grove City Outlet Center on Saturday, Nov. 7, departing the Howard Elementary School at 7 a.m. and returning to Howard around 8 p.m. If you'd like to go along, reserve your seat early. There needs to be at least 40-50 people sign up to go for the trip to happen. The cost will be around $50-$55 per person. Reservations are due before Oct. 5. UPCOMING EVENTS
-- Pleasant Gap Fire Company's Fall Fest will be held tomorrow, Sept. 26, from noon to 7 p.m., at 475 Robinson Lane, Pleasant Gap. The fall festival will feature live music, kids activities, food and craft vendors and beer and wine vendors. The fire company is also selling cash raffle tickets for six prizes of $500 each. See any fire company member or get yours during the fall festival, while supplies last.
-- Millheim Fire Company's Oktoberfest will be on Sept. 26, from noon to 5 p.m. The fall fest features live oompah music, prizes, German food and more. ID is required to purchase adult beverages.
-- The last free concert of the summer series at the Lemont Village Green's will be held this evening, Sept. 25, and will feature The Tellegrassers. The band members will be entertaining from 7- 8:30 p.m. Check the website, www.lemontvillage.org, after 5 p.m. to see if there are weather cancellations or if the concert is being moved indoors to the granary.
-- The Back Porch String Band will have their Country Jam on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 2-6 p.m., at the Yearick Center/Howard fire hall. The afternoon of music is free, and those attending should bring a snack to share with others there.
