LOCK HAVEN -- Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. and The Apothecary have partnered to bring the Moonlight Market themed Final Friday to East Main Street on Sept. 25 from 4-9 p.m.
The pedestrian-friendly event will feature over 60 unique vendors, live reptiles and a snake show, bounce castle, food trucks, Glinda the Good Witch, Jack Skellington, Spooky DJ Dance Party, face painting artist, Witch Walk, street dining, store sales, live music by Frosted Mini Wheats, FE: 26, Matthew Colegrove and Heather Treaster, fitness acrobatics and a pole show and a free student shuttle service from residence halls at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven campus.
"The purpose of the Moonlight Market is to bring the community together to support unique local makers, artists and our downtown shops and restaurants," said Dr. Rick Schulze, DLH manager. "The unique entertainment and vendors with mystical and Halloween-related themes help us celebrate the magic of this fall season."
Frankie Butler, Owner, The Apothecary, a metaphysical supply store at 125 E. Main St., created the festival several years ago and has watched it grow each year.
Frankie noted, "we are really excited to see the street closed to traffic enabling us to expand the number of vendors and live musicians. We're especially anticipating the Witch Walk, featuring Millbrook Playhouse actors and the Central Mountain High School Drama Club. A Witch Walk is a costumed celebration of the fall season and is a way for all of us to join in the walk by following the group through the downtown."
Frankie went on to say, "costumes are encouraged and welcomed at this event."
Other activities at the Moonlight Market Final Friday include a live reptile and snake wildlife show from Exotic Edventures and live appearances by costumed characters such as Glinda the Good Witch and Jack Skellington.
Paired with the family-friendly spooky DJ dance party from Jackson Productions is a bounce castle for children and Whisker Pop Face Painting by BadMynx Design.
For foodies Mama Martina's, Tully Scott's, Bagel Bagel, Leo's Italian and Specialty Foods, Sunshine Lemonade and F&A Masons Lafayette Lodge will be available along with dining from local restaurants. Tarot card readings will also be available.
The live music will be popular and unique featuring Heather Treaster, acoustic singer; Matthew Colegrove, alt rock; FE:26, progressive alt rock, and Frosted Mini-Wheats, classic rock and hits of the 1970s. Frosted Mini-Wheats will play 6-9 p.m. in front of Stella A's. The other musicians will be on a stage near the corner of Vesper and E. Main Streets.
A new addition is the Limited Aerial Fitness Acrobatics and Pole Show on the portable stage in front of Momoyo Otsu. Also, a free shuttle service for Commonwealth University-Lock Haven students will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with pick ups at Fairview Suites and Smith Hall and drop off at Vesper and E. Main Streets. Students can return to campus via shuttle service, too.
Rick Schulze summarized, "Downtown Lock Haven and The Apothecary want everyone to shop and enjoy the experience of the Moonlight Market Final Friday. So many vendors, shows and activities for everyone."
