This view, presumably taken from the East Main St. bridge across the canal, looks north towards the river. It shows the bridge across East Water St., and just beyond it, the lock where boats entered the river pool and crossed to the lock at Lockport. The stone entrance on the Lock Haven side may still be seen. When the canal was abandoned after the 1889 flood, the canal was filled and the present Canal Park created. Part of the Bald Eagle canal was maintained to supply the paper mills with water as of the 1960s. The canal, which used part of Bald Eagle Creek, went as far west as Milesburg. This was one of the canal illustrations shown by Isabel Miller to the Clinton County Historical Society sometime in the 1960s.
