CENTRE HALL -- The American Legion Auxiliary of Centre Hall invites the public to a free Music Bingo program from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, on the heated outdoor patio at Smith-Pletcher American Legion Post 779, 2928 Penns Valley Pike, Centre Hall, PA 16828.

Facilitated by GiGi Palooza, this fun, interactive, smoke-free event is slated to be held on the third Thursday of each month, beginning in November. While the event officially begins at 7 p.m., the doors will open at 5 p.m. -- with entry at the rear door of the Legion -- to allow participants time to secure seating for themselves and friends.

Under the leadership of President Deb McClenahan, the American Legion Auxiliary in Centre Hall sends monthly care packages to active-duty United States military troops and raises funds to support veterans' causes, local community organizations, and area youth groups. Auxiliary volunteers also sponsor the American Legion Poppy Program, which uses the red memorial poppy to honor the sacrifice of military service members and to raise funds for military veterans. Volunteers also assist with American Legion Post 779 events, including the annual Veterans Day dinner for local veterans.

Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary is one of the nation's largest veterans support organizations, with more than 545,000 members in nearly 8,000 local units across the United States and abroad. In the spirit of "Service Not Self," its national mission is to support The American Legion and honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of veterans, military members, and their families, both at home and abroad. The organization advocates for veterans, educates citizens, mentors youth, and promotes patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security. New members are always welcome.
