HOAGIE REMINDER
Don't forget to pick up your hoagies that you preordered from Jack at the Yarnell Community Center. Hoagie orders will be filled today, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., and tomorrow from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Walk-ins will be accommodated only while supplies last, so if you didn't preorder you might want to call Jack to see if he has supplies left before you make the trek to Yarnell.
If you forgot what day and time you ordered your hoagies to be picked up, call Jack at 814-280-0524.
The proceeds from the hoagie sale will be used for taxes, heating oil, utilities and maintenance at the Yarnell Community Center.
RIFF RAFF PICK-UP
Milesburg residents are reminded that Riff-Raff collection will begin early tomorrow, Oct. 10. Please clean up around your homes and put your items to be discarded at the curb or the end of your driveway on Friday night so they can be picked up in the early morning hours on Saturday.
PUMPKIN PATCH
Pathway to Christ Church in McElhattan will have their "Pumpkin Patch and Fall Hayride" this Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon to 2 p.m. Each child gets to pick their own pumpkin and bring it inside to decorate it. There will also be a hayride around the church property and Face Painting by Whimsical Curiosities. Children will enjoy cookies and juice and get a goodie bag to take home. Adults will be provided donuts and cider.
Come to the church on Sunday afternoon to see the HUGE pumpkin that will be on display. The 550 pound pumpkin was grown by one of the church members and it will be there for everyone to see during these fall activities and fellowship time on Sunday.
BREAKFAST OFFERED
Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club will host a breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 7-11 a.m., at the clubhouse (in Woolrich) at 84 Harley Drive, Lock Haven. The breakfast is all-you-can-eat and is just $10 for those ages 13 and older and $6 for children ages 6-12. Younger kiddos get to eat free.
The cooks at the SVBT Motorcycle Club really know how to feed their patrons. There is a lot of food offered at the breakfasts and the price is fabulous for the whole family.

LIONS NEWS
-- Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution will be on Monday, Oct. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the former Beech Creek Elementary. Bring a sturdy box and any empty egg cartons you have.
-- Howard Area Lions Bingo will be held on Thursday evening, Oct. 22, at the Beech Creek-Blanchard Fire Company social hall. Doors and the kitchen open at 5:30 p.m., with Bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. Lions Bingo is normally held on the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each month, but that will change in November because of Thanksgiving.
-- Milesburg Lions Club holds a weekly Bingo every Thursday night at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6:45 p.m.
APPLE FEST
Come to Curtin Village for the annual Apple Fest on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will press 35 bushels of apples into fresh cider, available for purchase along with homemade bread and apple butter, apple-cider doughnuts, grilled chicken and more.
Vendors, musicians and demonstrators will fill the lawn with activities and old-fashioned fall fun for families of all ages. Festival visitors may also tour the historic C&O caboose and welcome passengers arriving aboard the Apple Harvest Special, sponsored by the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society. Admission is $5 for visitors ages 11 and older

VETERANS
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 623 invites Veterans to be honored at a buffet-style breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 8. Veterans and their (one) guest may come for breakfast at the American Legion, 68 Wynn Ave., Beech Creek, anytime from 7-11 a.m. Reservations for those attending the breakfast should be made before Oct. 30 by calling Sharon at 717-870-7574.

-- Howard Fire Company's Annual Punkin Chunkin Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Bald Eagle State Park. Free admission, free parking, lots of family friendly activities, many craft vendors and lots of good food, and you get to see pumpkins launched into the lake.
-- Walker Township Fire Company will be holding their annual gun raffle on Oct. 17 at their station in Hublersburg. The raffle runs from 5-11 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. There will be food and DJ music during the event. Must bring photo ID to enter. The fire company is also selling raffle tickets for a Massimo Big Jeep GKD 350 that will be given away during the gun raffle. Tickets for the Jeep are $10 each or 3/$20. See any fire company member to get your tickets today, or stop by the fire station on Thursday evenings.
-- Millheim Fire Company is taking orders for their sausage sale. Sausage pickup dates are in mid-November. I'm not sure of the flavors or the prices of the sausage, but you can call the fire station to check on that. The fire company is also selling their gun raffle tickets. Tickets, $10 each or 3/$20, for the April 10, 2027, gun/cash raffle are available by seeing any fire company member.
-- Undine Fire Company's Cash Bash and Basket Raffle is planned for Oct. 24, starting at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. From 3-6 p.m. a winner will be drawn every 15 minutes. The cash prizes total $4,600. The grand prize winner of $1,000 will be drawn at 6 p.m. Stop by the station or see any member to get your ticket today!
-- Undine Fire Company is planning a Mega Cash Bingo on Saturday, Nov. 7, beginning at 5 p.m., at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and are available from any fire company member.

-- Free clothing give-away at St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte. The Light of the World Clothing Bank will be open on Friday, Oct. 9, from 2:30-5 p.m., and on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, is having a drive through vegetable beef soup sale on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. until sold out. Leave a message including your name and how many quarts you would like, then come on Oct. 10 and get yours brought right to your car window!
-- New Hope Lutheran Church will be giving away free clothing and more on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Donations (of good, clean and working items) are being accepted beginning on Oct. 10 and will be sorted and organized Oct. 26-30, so volunteers are needed to help with sorting on those days.

-- On Monday, Oct. 12, from 4:30-6 p.m., you can learn to draw or enhance your sketches by getting instruction at the Friendship Community Library in Beech Creek. This drawing class is free to those ages 12 and older. The drawing class is held each Monday, unless otherwise noted. For more info call the Library at 570-962-2048. -- Howard United Methodist Church will host a soup sale and luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the church fellowship hall. Eat in or take out soups are available in the flavors of ham and bean, vegetable beef, chicken corn and chicken noodle. Lunch includes soup, a salad, a roll, a piece of pie and beverage for $10. -- Howard United Methodist Church's Food Distribution will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, starting at 5 p.m. Food is given to anyone in need. There is no income requirement. -- Beech Creek Wesleyan Church will host the New Love Center's Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Individuals are invited to come into the church for a short pre-registration before obtaining the free food. Bring along any small boxes or reusable bags that you might have for transporting your food items in lieu of using the pantry's supply of plastic bags.
-- Faith Chapel's Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will be open on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Faith Chapel, 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard. This is the last sale of the year offering gently used, good quality clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family. Sizes range from infants to 3X and are priced at $5 per bag full. Bags will be provided.
Bargains and Blessings Community Closet is an outreach ministry of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church that serves Beech Creek, Blanchard, Howard and the surrounding areas.
