HALLOWEEN
IN HOWARD
-- Howard's Halloween Parade will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, beginning promptly at 5 p.m. Those desiring to participate in the parade should arrive at the Howard fire station by 4:45 p.m., so they are not late. Everyone is invited to participate. Pets should be on a leash.
-- Following the parade, Trick or Treating will be from 6-8 p.m. in the borough. Residents who are prepared to accept trick or treaters should turn their porch and outside lights on for safety measures. When you run out of treats, turn your porch lights off.

The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, which is directly behind the Sheetz store and beside Wingate Elementary. For more info about Wingate Faith Church and the activities there, call Janette at 814-883-0893.
TURN YOUR CLOCKS
Daylight Savings Time will end in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 1, so it's time to turn your clocks -- "fall back" -- one hour on Saturday night before going to bed.
Folks are also reminded that this is a perfect time to put new batteries in your smoke detectors and to test them to be sure they are working properly. Refresh your children's memory of the family's fire escape plan so that everyone gets outside and meets in a safe location if a fire should happen.
THANK YOU
I want to express my appreciation to Wally Nyman, of Beech Creek, who came to my rescue on Wednesday morning when my check oil light came on in my vehicle. I popped my hood and Wally went to work, checked the oil level and put some in for me. And he wouldn't take a dime for his assistance. I can't thank him enough!
I've known Wally and his wife, Tammy, since our daughters were in elementary school.
I was happy to hear that Tammy continues to get good check-up reports from her doctors following her lung transplant. They were to Pittsburgh last week for a checkup and she is doing well and shows no signs of rejection, so for that we are very thankful.
God puts Good Samaritans and angels in our paths to help us along our way every day! Please say a special prayer for both Wally and Tammy, for continued blessings, good health and happiness.
SANTA JUMP
This year's Santa Jump Jamboree will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 25 craft and food vendors have already signed up to take part in the event. Vendors are usually stationed at the fire hall social building and at the Friendship Community Center.
In addition to the vendors, there will be kids crafts at the fire station, a basket raffle, a 50/50 drawing, bike giveaways and, at 1 p.m., Santa will parachute from a plane onto the ball field (weather permitting.) Santa will then greet the children and hear their wish lists at the fire station. Prize winners will all be drawn and announced around 1:30 p.m. or so, so be sure to enter before Santa arrives at 1 p.m. to have a chance at the fabulous prizes being offered.
In case of inclement weather that the plane can't fly to have Santa jump, the BC-B Fire Company members will make sure Santa arrives by fire truck so he gets to see all of the children there.
