Extension to offer poultry handling and transportation certification webinar

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Individuals interested in becoming certified in poultry handling and transportation can attend an upcoming Penn State Extension webinar, "Poultry Handling and Transportation Certification," which will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. March 10.

The webinar is designed for poultry industry workers seeking to enhance their knowledge of humane handling and transportation practices, poultry transportation companies aiming to improve operational standards and biosecurity measures, and individuals interested in advancing poultry welfare and ensuring ethical transport practices.

The session will cover:

-- Best practices for humane handling of poultry before, during and after transport.

-- Effective biosecurity measures to protect poultry health.

-- Methods for assessing birds' fitness for transport.

-- Strategies for managing emergencies during transportation.

By completing the course and passing the exam, participants will gain a recognized certificate, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to ensure safe, ethical and efficient poultry transportation, organizers noted.

Registration by March 10 is required to receive the link to access the webinar. The registration fee is $5.
