UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State Extension is encouraging people to kick off the winter blues by attending an upcoming class designed to help adults improve their health and strength through an exercise program.
The Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together, or LIFT, class is held twice weekly in one-hour sessions, offered as a 12-week or eight-week in-person workshop at various locations from December 2025 through February 2026.
An eight-week live virtual option, LIFTed, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 13 through March 5, 2026.
This class is designed for men and women 40 years of age and older who are interested in improving their health, vitality and well-being.
Participants will engage in a group-based, strength training program. The program also includes basic nutrition information with an emphasis on increased fruit and vegetable intake.
The program consists of:
-- A five-minute warm-up.
-- Eight to 12 strength-training exercises to promote proper body positioning, flexibility and posture.
-- Easy-to-use nutrition information for improved health.
-- A five-minute cool-down.
Registration dates vary by location and option. For the eight-week options, the course fee is $60; the 12-week option has a course fee of $90. Organizers noted that some insurance policies may reimburse participants with 80% or better attendance. Individuals can contact their insurance provider to determine eligibility for coverage.
