JERSEY SHORE -- Two Geisinger hospitals have been recognized by Chartis Center with a 2023 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in performance. Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital earned the award for excellence in Quality and Geisinger Lewistown Hospital earned the award for excellence in Outcomes.
Compiled by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor top quartile performance among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and/or Patient Perspective.
"Our teams here at Geisinger provide the very best care to our patients every day, and this recognition is a reflection of their service and commitment," said Tammy Anderer, chief administrative officer of Geisinger's North-Central and Western Regions where Geisinger Jersey Shore and Geisinger Lewistown Hospital are located. "The patient experience and patient safety outcomes provide strong results that reflect the exceptional care we provide our patients and community. We're proud of our teams for all that they do to achieve such leading accomplishments."
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, the industry's most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. INDEX data is relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health around the country to measure and monitor performance across several areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
