Mt. Nittany Medical Center earns CMS five-star rating for seventh consecutive reporting period

STATE COLLEGE — Mount Nittany Medical Center has once again earned a Five-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), marking the seventh consecutive reporting period with this distinction. This recognition places Mount Nittany Medical Center among the top hospitals nationwide for exceptional healthcare quality.

“It is an honor to again receive a Five-Star rating from CMS,” said Kathleen Rhine, Mount Nittany Health President and CEO. “Fewer than 10 percent of hospitals nationwide achieve this recognition. It is a reflection of the extraordinary dedication of our staff, whose commitment to patient safety and quality care has made Mount Nittany Health a trusted part of our community for more than 120 years.”

“The Five-Star rating reflects the commitment our providers and care teams bring to every patient encounter,” said Thomas Covaleski, MD, Mount Nittany Health Hospitalist and Chief of Staff. “As hospitalists, we are privileged to be at the bedside each day, working closely with patients and their families. This recognition reinforces the trust our community places in us and the high standard of care they can expect at Mount Nittany Medical Center.”

The CMS overall star rating summarizes performance across multiple measures of quality, including mortality, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience and timeliness and effectiveness of care.
