UPMC, Susquehanna Health Foundation expand community support for adults with neurodivergence

WILLIAMSPORT — UPMC in North Central Pa., with support from Susquehanna Health Foundation, is expanding community programming designed to promote connection, independence and overall well-being for adults with neurodivergence in the region.

Through a partnership with The Wildlife of Autism, UPMC offers The Social Circle — a monthly, wellness‒focused gathering designed to help adults form relationships, practice independence and engage in everyday community experiences. The program reflects UPMC’s commitment to supporting individuals and families beyond traditional care settings, creating opportunities for ongoing growth and social engagement well into adulthood.

“The Social Circle responds to a real and meaningful need in our community,” said Annie Fogleman, associate director, Annual Fund, Susquehanna Health Foundation. “Everyone deserves to feel connected and included, regardless of ability or financial circumstances. Thanks to our donors, we’re helping create that sense of belonging for adults with neurodivergence — and for the families, friends and neighbors who support them.

Participants take part in relaxed, structured outings such as shared meals, bowling, park visits and other group activities. Each gathering is intentionally planned to reduce pressure, encourage interaction and build confidence in real‒world settings.

There is no cost for participants to attend events. All activities are funded through community sponsorships and philanthropic giving to Susquehanna Health Foundation, ensuring financial circumstances are never a barrier.

A gift of $50 supports one individual’s attendance, helping cover meals, activities, transportation considerations and accessibility needs. Donations can be made online at SusquehannaHealthFoundation.org/donate by selecting The Social Circle as the area of interest.

Gifts may also be mailed to Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. Please write Social Circle on the memo line.

The Social Circle is a community extension of UPMC Pediatric Rehabilitation, which provides outpatient services for children and adolescents with developmental, physical and neurological needs. Through physical, occupational and speech-language therapy, care teams support functional skill development and independence — with that support continuing into adulthood through community-based programs supported by Susquehanna Health Foundation.
