Otto Bookstore hosts Menopause & Mimosas conversation on women’s health

Morning Q&A with Dr. Tanya Berfield and Elisa Allen part of bookstore’s Women’s Health Series

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Otto Bookstore will host Menopause & Mimosas, a casual morning conversation about the physical, emotional and mental sides of menopause, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 17, in the store's newly renovated Reading Room at 123 W. Fourth St.

Part of the bookstore's Women's Health Series, the event features Tanya Berfield, a transformative leadership strategist and the author of Radical Resilience, and coach Elisa Allen, a functional nutrition and metabolism specialist.

Berfield, who holds a doctorate in transformative leadership, helps women who appear to have it all together reconnect with who they are beneath the roles, expectations and patterns they've outgrown. Allen, a functional nutrition and metabolism specialist, helps women understand what their bodies need in midlife and build lasting habits around nutrition, hormones and energy.

The two will lead a question-and-answer session covering topics from mood shifts and sleep changes to subjects many women rarely discuss openly, including changes in libido and intimacy.

"So many women go through menopause feeling alone or unsure of what they're even allowed to ask," said Kathryn Nassberg, co-owner of the Otto Bookstore. "A bookstore has always been a place to find answers. We wanted to create a room where women can ask the real questions, get honest information and realize how many people are right there with them."

Organizers describe the morning as a conversation rather than a lecture. Guests who would prefer to ask a question privately can submit it anonymously ahead of time through a link included in their Eventbrite confirmation email.

"We kept the group small on purpose," said John Shableski, manager of the Otto Bookstore. "With 60 seats in our new Reading Room, it feels less like a seminar and more like brunch with friends who happen to be experts. Come curious, bring your questions and be ready to laugh, learn and raise a glass to the next chapter."

Seating is limited to 60 guests. Registration is $10 plus fees, for a total of $12.51, and includes light bites and mimosas, sponsored by The Bar on Market. The event will also feature prize giveaways from Berfield, Ascend Chiropractic & Wellness Center, Angela Miele Healing Arts and Phoebe & Co.

Registration is available at ottobookstore.com or directly at https://www.ottobookstore.com/menopause-and-mimosas-featuring-elisa-allen-and-dr-tanya-berfield.
