Remember the Titan Market

Bellefonte shop becomes an integral part of the community

BELLEFONTE — Big things are happening at Titan Market in Bellefonte.

Titan Market opened in October of 2020 and things haven’t slowed down for market founder Corrina Anskis. Titan Market is open every Friday and Saturday. It features vendors of all types. From baked goods to baskets, gifts to grocery items, chances are that Titan Market has it. The growth has been something to see, she said.

“We’re coming up on two years,” Anskis said. “It’s always been nice and steady. The goal of the market was to make it easier for the community to shop with our local farmers, artisans, crafters and businesses. In addition to that, this place is starting to get known as a community space.”

The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau (www.happyvalley.com) recently put Titan Market on its “bucket list” of places to go when visiting the Centre Region.

“I thought that was really nice,” Anskis said.

CHRIS MORELLI/THE EXPRESS Titan Market, located at 2042 Axemann Road in Bellefonte, is open for business every Friday and Saturday. It features everything from fresh baked goods to household items.

The weekly market features a variety of items for sale.

“It’s a really nice variety. Our goal is always to be at least 50 percent farmer’s market. That’s a little tough in the wintertime, but we do have a year-round produce guy. During growing season, though, you’ll see a nice variety of produce farmers. We’ve always got the pork and beef here every week, we’ve got dairy here, we’ve got the produce here, we even have homemade pickles here,” Anskis said.

In addition to the weekly market there are monthly “special events” that typically tie in with a holiday or a certain time of year.

“Some are smaller, like a Chili Cook-Off, but some are larger, like an Outdoor Sportsmen’s Show. We have a Spring Craft Show coming up. We try to have something for everyone,” Anskis said.

When the two larger Arts Festivals were canceled last year due to COVID-19, Titan Market stepped up, playing host to its own.

CHRIS MORELLI/THE EXPRESS Titan Market features a number of shops and eateries — and seating to enjoy some of the good food they offer.

One of the things that Anskis is really proud of is the fact that Titan Market is seeing its share of regulars.

“We are seeing regular customers here. That was one of our goals. They’re doing their regular shopping here. We’ve really seen that grow,” Anskis said.

According to Anskis, there is plenty of room for growth at Titan Market.

“One of the things that helps us is that we have a lot of space. You never feel like it’s too crowded, even during the special events. That’s really played in our favor,” Anskis said.

She said that fall and the holiday months are the busiest time of the year.

“Summer months tend to be a little bit slower because people like to get outside, go on vacation … the fall and holiday season is very busy here,” Anskis said.
