Angel Lights to cast glow on Sept. 11 in city’s Triangle Park

2 min read

LOCK HAVEN – Angel Light luminaries will once again glow brightly in Triangle Park from dusk until around midnight on Sept. 11, the National Day of Remembrance.

Everyone may sponsor a special Angel Light, and all the lights will shine together to show the community’s respect for patriots, heroes, teachers, mentors, friends and loved ones.

Angel Light luminaries are available now for a donation of $5 each.

The lights are being purchased by people who wish to honor loved ones, remember someone who has passed on, say thank you in a unique way, honor a soldier or veteran, recognize the Sept. 11, 2001 tragedies, or simply light one candle against the darkness.

Each luminaire consists of a votive candle in a small glass holder inside a personalized bag. All who sponsor a luminaire may personalize their white bag when they purchase it by drawing a picture or writing a name or a sentiment in red and blue ink. Last year, some Angel Light sponsors even took their bags home to decorate with craft materials.

The Angel Lights event is organized by the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven. This year, the club is raising funds for veterans in Clinton County, Ross Library, Horses of Hope, and the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank.

The lights will be placed in Triangle Park on the anniversary of 9/11 which falls on a Friday this year. Lights will be available for purchase there as well.

A short ceremony will be held in the park at 7 p.m., and the public is invited.

Following the ceremony, the Rotarians will light each candle, and once they are all lit, the Angel Lights will present a silent, glowing testament of hope and love. The lights will be attended until around midnight, when they will be extinguished for another year.

To purchase an Angel Light, call Cindy Love at 570-660-2012 or visit The Bus Stops Here store at 115 E. Main St., or The Shamrock at 198 Shamrock St.

During the Jaycees Labor Day Regatta, look for Angel Lights at the Rotary table in Canal Park.
