Two Sisters center reopens with new name

MILL HALL – Nine years ago, sisters Michele Terry and Heather Mogish Ake opened the doors of a little pink church on Fairpoint Road as “Two Sisters Healing Arts & Essence Photography.”

Heather used the center as her photography studio and Michele hosted instructors and offered workshops to build a healing arts community.

Over the years the little space has changed and evolved; there have been slow times and times of celebration, according to Michele. Many faces have come and gone but others remain a steadfast and strong foundation for the center.

Almost nine years to the date, the sisters and purveyors of the quaint, restored 1892 church are reinventing the space and reopening with a new name and a fresh perspective.

The new name is “Full Circle a center for creators, healers and loving kindness,” Michele stated.

The public is invited to visit the center Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. for an evening of celebration and community. An exhibit currently on view showcases art by Jessica Williams, Alex Terry, Barbara Pribble, Heather, Margaret Snow and Jenn Crumm.

On Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m., a meet-and-greet is planned for the healing collective. Demonstrations and a mini-session will be offered for members of the public to experience the center’s available services.

The intention of the center remains steeped in the same commitment of providing a safe place, as well as opportunities for physical and emotional well-being, creative expression, and kindness for the local community.

There is more emphasis on creative art becoming a more vital part of the center, Michele said. In the center’s inception, this component was part of the original business plan but never got off the ground, she said.

She said she recognizes and appreciates the healing power of creating as a “win-win.” The artist has the opportunity to create and express, while the viewer has the privilege of receiving and interpreting the art in a personal way.

As Full Circle, the center will operate as a shared studio for artists, writers, photographers and other creators. Heather will be offering a new “in-home genre” that captures the story of family. The healing practitioners and service providers also share space and offer diverse modalities – Reiki, massage, yoga, tai chi, herbal medicine, intuitive guidance, reflexology and more.

“The structure itself invokes inspiration and relaxation,” Michele stated. “Vivid stained glass and deep wood accents create a warm, peaceful environment. The sanctuary provides a perfect setting for exhibitions and shows.”

The vestibule holds art that is for sale. A separate building is a quiet, private place for healing services. There is a little cottage nestled under the pines and a patio area.

The Full Circle Center has a schedule of events and classes posted on Facebook and Instagram at fullcirclecenter. Its website is www.fullcirclecenter.net.
