Bellefonte students star in ‘Anything Goes’

BELLEFONTE — The Bellefonte Area High School Theatre Department’s spring musical, “Anything Goes,” opened last night at the school, at 830 E. Bishop St., and will have performances tonight at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The action is set aboard the ocean liner S.S. American where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but the problem is that Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin, and his sidekick in crime, Erma. With the help of elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.
The Bellefonte production stars Anna Yates as Reno Sweeney, Megan Irwin as Hope Harcourt, Jack Badger as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Johnny Purnell as Billy Crocker, Eddie Fitzgerald as Moonface Martin, and Kiara Von Gunden as Erma.
Also featured are Drew Nixdorf, Annalee Caprio, Mackenzie Ebeling, Halle Mitchell, Sierra Pletcher, Brian Doyle, Ryan Carroll, Shannon Anderson, Brandon Hearn, Anna Kate Scott, Kristen Brown, Josh Gaus, Elijah Breon, Mason Keeler, Dominik Pintaric, Nathan Smith, Matthew Jacobs, Grace Files, Maya Fulton, Tyler Muse and Allissa McCloskey.
Other players include “Angels” Annalee Caprio, Keri Carroll, Mackenzie Ebeling, Halle Mitchell, Drew Nixdorf, Olivia Reiter, Bailey Spangler and Alison Spratt.

Natalie Giacobe is student choreographer with student assistant choreographers Kaitlyn Alterio and Keeli Pighetti, and Halle Mitchell is student music director with student assistant music directors Patricia Jenkins and Katie Mitchell.
Sound is under the direction of Abigail Osborne and Marley Lambert, lighting design is by Aidan Praskovich, and set design is by Brandon Hearn.
Mykhala Richner chairs props with C.J. Milliken, Mitchell Kling, Arielya Spicer and Alyssa Brezler. Elizabeth Rice chairs costumes with Catey Bartko, Emily Hagenbuch and Johnna Sette. Madi Dreese chairs hair styling with Halie Gummo and Christina Stone. Alison Spratt chairs make-up with Megan Hamaty, Ahleah Krout, Makayla Regel and Grace Sherman.
Stage crew members are Bryce Fisher, Abigail Crane, Alexis Hassinger, Jessica McElwee, Katelyn Auman, Kayla Fleming, Noah Fulton, Katrina Blood and Hailey Williams.
In the orchestra pit are Zoey Cole, Sydney McKeague, Max Theuer, Caroline Helms, Seth Johnson, Emily Harris, Lizzie Giacobe, Keeli Pighetti and Brandon Snook.
Mindy Schlegel is in charge of box office.
The show features musical hits by Cole Porter. The original book was written by Guy Bolton, P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The new book is by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.
