From staff reports

RAUCHTOWN -- After approximately a year of working with Crawford Township Supervisors to insall a tower within the township AT&T customers and FirstNet subscribers in Rauchtown got a big boost in wireless connectivity.

AT&T added a new cell tower to enhance the area's 4G LTE coverage and help give residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service. The investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices.

This site will improve coverage along Route 880 and Rauchtown, as well as surrounding areas.

Supervisor Ben Eggler feels the new tower will have a positive impact on the township as a whole.

"It's good for everybody really," he said.

Supervisor Chairman Jerry Seyler said AT&T were easy to work with.

"They definitely did everything that they were supposed to do. They followed all of the procedures," he said. "We actually had to go and have a variance hearing to get it put in and that went well. They brought their people and explained everything."

"We want our customers to have a great experience. With 4G LTE service, they'll be able to experience better network connectivity while streaming videos, sharing on social media or texting family and friends," said David Kerr, president, AT&T Pennsylvania. "We consistently work to provide better mobile broadband coverage for the community and its first responders. And we're investing in our wireless network to accomplish that."

Kerr said the Rauchtown site is the second new site AT&T added in the county in the past few months.

In December 2019, AT&T announced a new, purpose-built cell site in Hyner, located along Route 120 between Hyner and North Bend – is part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place in Pennsylvania. The site in Hyner was the first one to be publicly announced in Pennsylvania following Gov. Tom Wolf's decision to advance its public safety broadband communications with FirstNet.

AT&T knows how important it is for their customers to stay connected. That's why they're also boosting network reliability and capacity as they expand their network. This helps Pennsylvanians get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.

These upgrades will also benefit public safety and first responders on FirstNet – public safety's dedicated communications platform. FirstNet is bringing public safety communications into the 21st century with new, innovative capabilities to help those users stay safe and save lives.

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet. It provides public safety with a dedicated lane of connectivity when needed. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14's added coverage and capacity.

FirstNet is built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority. It's designed to help first responders in Pennsylvania and across the country connect to the critical information they need – when they need it – so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safer.

AT&T is committed to investing in Pennsylvania.

From 2016 to 2018, they invested more than $775 million in our Pennsylvania wireless and wired networks. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.
