Area could see up to four inches of snow

LOCK HAVEN -- Although temperatures climbed into the 70s on Friday, those spring-like temperatures were shortlived.

This weekend, temperatures will drop down into the 40s.

Snow -- yes, snow -- is a possibility for Sunday night and Monday morning. According to AccuWeather meteorologist Brett Rossio, the Lock Haven area could see up to four inches of the white stuff by Monday morning.

"We have a cold front coming from the West across Ohio, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario," Rossio explained. "As we get into Sunday, that front is going to wedge itself into the northeast corner (of Pennsylvania)."

Rossio said that the the cold front could meet a surge of cold air. If that happens, Clinton and Centre counties could see significant snow Sunday night into Monday morning.

Lock Haven, Rossio said, could get as much as four inches of snow.

"If we get that snow," Rossio said. "It will come rather quickly."

The weekend features a mix of sun and clouds. Saturday's high is expected to be 46. Sunday's high will reach 47, according to AccuWeather.com.

The good news, Rossio explained, is that the balmy spring-like temperatures we saw on Friday could help the area in the long run.

"When the temperatures climb like they did, it makes it hard for snow to stick around. The road temperatures are rather warm, which is good," Rossio said.

While the snow could fall fast and accumulate, Rossio doesn't expect it to be around for long. In fact, Tuesday's high is expected to be around 50 degrees. That will likely melt whatever accumulations the area receives.

"It's that time of year," Rossio said matter-of-factly.

With schools closed and most people working from home, the spring snowstorm would have little impact on schedules and travel.

Throughout next week, temperatures are expected to be in the 50s and 60s.
