One driver flown to Geisinger after crash

The driver of a UPS truck was life-flighted to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after she crashed into the rear-end of a disabled tractor trailer truck parked in the right lane of Route 220 between Avis and McElhattan Tuesday morning, according to Pine Creek Township Police Chief Dave Winkleman. Winkleman said the driver of the disabled truck had put triangular markers around his truck but the UPS driver apparently didn’t see them in time and slammed into the rear of the other truck, which was from Ontario, Canada. Winkleman said packages from the UPS truck and straw from the trailer of the other truck were strewn across the highway, closing the road off to traffic for several hours. Names of the drivers had not been released by press time Tuesday.
