STATE COLLEGE -- Centre County has its first death from COVID-19.
On Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed the death of a patient who was hospitalized at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. No other details were released by Mount Nittany.
The death was one of 49 new deaths in Pennsylvania reported on Friday. Pennsylvania's death toll stands at 756. According to the Pennsylvania's Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine, all deaths have been adults, with most age 65 or older.
Clinton County has two new cases of COVID-19, bringing its total to 10 confirmed cases. Centre County has the most cases locally with 73. Other nearby counties look like this: Lycoming (32), Union (26), Tioga (14), Clearfield (9), Potter (4) and Cameron (1).
In Centre County, 570 people have tested negative as of Friday morning, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. A total of 87 have tested negative in Clinton County. Other nearby counties look like this: Cameron (19), Clearfield (303). Lycoming (689) Potter (46), Tioga (153) and Union (391).
Statewide, 1,706 new positives were confirmed on Friday, bringing Pennsylvania's total number of cases to 29,441.
A total of 117,932 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19. Statewide, 2,587 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 653 requiring a ventilator.
