JERSEY SHORE -- Local veterinarian Dr. Bradford Baker was killed late Monday afternoon when the Kubota Zero-Turn lawn mower he was riding overturned, trapping him under the unit.
Baker was cutting grass at his home on Torbert Lane, off of Route 44, in Watson Township, when the accident occurred, according to Jerold Ross, the county's chief deputy coroner.
Baker, 62, was killed instantly when the tractor rolled on top of him, Ross said.
The riding mower flipped when its left rear tire dropped off a small embankment, Ross said. No one witnessed the accident, he said.
Baker's property boarders Pine Creek and he was found under the mower by a kayaker coming down the creek, Ross said.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the property about 5:10 p.m.
The mower's motor was still warm when rescue personnel arrived, Ross said, adding the investigators believed the accident happened at least an hour before Baker was found.
State police responded and processed the scene.
