Firefighters, patrolman honored for rescuing man from hotel fire

JERSEY SHORE-- Friends, family, local law enforcement and borough citizens gathered outside Citizen's Hose Company in Jersey Shore on Friday to honor the firefighters and patrolman who rescued a man from the Feb. 15 Broadway Hotel fire.
"When the place caught fire in Broadway Hotel, the outstanding first responders answered the call," said Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA).
"The situation had turned really bad quickly… and they recovered the victim and were able to save him. I just wanted everyone here to know how much your work is appreciated in keeping the citizens safe. I want to congratulate all of the law enforcement and the first responders here."
Station 45 Fire Chief Howard Fausey, Assistant Fire Chief Ethan Goodbrod, firefighters Jason Clarke and Ron Dailey, along with Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police Officer Sean Hummer, all received certificates of recognition.
"From the moment we pulled up in the engine, it was a sense of urgency," Goodbrod said.
"It is a little nerve-wracking when you see the conditions of the building deteriorating. From that point it is the training and experience that kicks in and you do what you are supposed to do. We do what the citizens expect us to do," Goodbrod continued.
"I am thankful that I was able to be in the right place at the right time. It made me proud of the guys I worked with. We all appreciate the effort and the recognition. We appreciate it," he said.
After the ceremony, family members gathered with their loved ones to take photos and hear about their experience.
The man rescued from the fire, Matthew White, was not in attendance.
