AVIS -- An out-of-state truck driver was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that took place around 9 p.m. Tuesday night along state Route 220 south in Wayne Township.
Richard Baldwin, 58, of New York state, died in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Pine Creek Township Police Department, Baldwin's tractor trailer crossed the median and the northbound lanes of 220 and went over an embankment, before coming to rest in a nearby field. A sedan carrying two females sustained severe damage in the crash, though it is unclear how their vehicle was involved. The accident took place between the Avis and Pine Creek exits of state Route 220.
"We're not quite sure how it happened," said Pine Creek Township Police Department chief Dave Winkleman. "We're still trying to piece it together."
Pine Creek Township Police were assisted at the scene by the Pennsylvania State Police, PennDOT, the Wayne Township Fire Department, Castanea Fire Department, Avis Fire Department, Dunnstown Fire Department, Lock Haven City Station 6 Fire Department, Flemington Fire Department, Lock Haven EMS, Flemington EMS, Jersey Shore EMS and Clinton County EMA.
The Pine Creek Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the station at (570) 753-5672.
