PSU student found dead in apartment
Autopsy scheduled Wednesday
STATE COLLEGE — An autopsy and toxicology tests are scheduled Wednesday for a Penn State University student who died on Sunday, according to Centre County Scott A. Sayers.
Nicholas Papadopoulos, 20, was found in his off-campus apartment, Sayers said.
University officials were notified of his death by State College Police Department.
The coroner hasn’t determined a cause of death but is conducting further investigation and tests. Papadopoulos’ autopsy is being conducted at the Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber, according to Sayers.
“We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Nicholas,” Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers said in a statement.
According to the coroner’s office release, “We will know more upon receiving the results from toxicology report, which could take up to six weeks.”
Powers added Penn State is currently providing support to Papadopoulos’ family, roommates and others directly affected by his death.
Papadopoulos, a 20-year-old undergraduate student, studied industrial engineering at Penn State.
Foul play is not suspected in Papadopoulos’ death, according to officials.
