KCSD Precision Machining program receives $7,500 grant from Haas Foundation

MILL HALL -- The Keystone Central Career and Technical Center Precision Machining program has been awarded a $7,500 secondary school grant from the Gene Haas Foundation.
This generous funding will be used for scholarships and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining competitions, such as SkillsUSA, CNC Milling and Automated Manufacturing.
Gene Haas founded the Gene Haas Foundation in 1999. This foundation was initially formed to fund the needs of the local community. Haas is the owner of Haas Automation Inc., which is now a billion dollar company. His goal is to build skills in the machining industry by providing scholarships for CNC machine technology students and NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) credentials.
The Precision Machining program at the Keystone Central School District Career and Technical Center offers students the opportunity to earn 11 certifications from the National Institute of Metalworking Skills, and includes four certifications directly related to CNC machining.
The machining program also has a CNC Operator pre-apprentice and CNC Operator apprentice recognized with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor.
