KCSD: Student tests positive for COVID-19
MILL HALL — The Keystone Central School announced on Friday that its first district student has tested positive for COVID-19. The announcement appeared on the KCSD website Friday afternoon.
The official statement came from KCSD superintendent Jacquelyn Martin.
It read:
“Dear KCSD Families:
“Today I was informed that a Central Mountain High School student has tested positive for Covid-19. It has been determined that the student was exposed to the virus early last week in a non-school event. We have been in contact with the PA Department of Health to conduct contact tracing and have been in touch with all students and families who may be impacted. We have not received any reports of other students or staff members experiencing illnesses or symptoms resembling those of coronavirus.
“We are taking additional measures for sanitizing the classroom and office areas over the weekend. I believe that the risk to our staff and students remains low enough for us to continue operating our current educational plan, however, families and staff members should be prepared to operate remotely at a moment’s notice as Covid-19 cases have been increasing throughout Pennsylvania.
“I continue to meet weekly with leaders from the PA Department of Health (DOH) and the PA Department of Education (PDE) to monitor the challenges related to this pandemic. I monitor the incidence rate of Covid-19 across Clinton, Centre and Potter counties each week as our district spans all three counties. Clinton remains in the moderate range, Potter is also in the moderate range, while Centre remains in the substantial range but, their rate has been significantly lower than last week.
“We will continue to implement safety protocols throughout the district including daily health checks for staff, students and school district visitors. We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we know more.”
The Keystone Central school board is not scheduled to meet again until Thursday, Nov. 5 for a work session.
