Men’s clothing store opens downtown
LOCK HAVEN — Downtown Lock Haven continues to make major strides into 2021 as its first men’s clothing store opened its doors this week… the first in over a decade.
On Friday, Alaceus Men’s Clothing owner Mohamed Ahamed-Ahrar and his team were excited to showcase the hard work they put into the space at 108 E. Main St.
Clothes are stacked neatly on tables, tucked into shelves or hanging on racks, and shoes, hats and scarves are displayed, providing customers the opportunity to browse all of the products in a clean and relaxed environment.
“I think the community needed this. We’re trying to bring Lock Haven back,” Ahamed-Ahrar said. He further explained that this sentiment is reflected in his store’s name.
“The name of the shop comes from a Greek demigod, Alaceus, someone who was given the gift to take flight. We’re hoping we can add that flight to the entirety of Lock Haven and give our customers the ability to feel that way with the merchandise they get here,” he said.
The name Alaceus has stuck with him since he was a kid and this new venture offered him a chance to use it, he said.
Ahamed-Ahrar and his financial advisor, John Hamm, both graduates of Lock Haven University, are looking forward to providing a needed resource to the community.
“We’re just as happy as you are to open the store,” Hamm said.
Alaceus offers a variety of items from t-shirts, sweatshirts, jeans, sweatpants, shoes, hats and scarves in well known brands such as Champion, Nike, Supreme, Off White and Diamond Company among others. Ahamed-Ahrar said the clothing is styled for casual or street wear, however he has stocked some professional attire, too.
Alaceus is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday with a grand opening scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1.
