MILL HALL — The Keystone Central School District has a fresh new logo.
On Friday afternoon, the district announced in a news release that the district has new logos, which incorporate new district colors — red and blue. The release noted that the new logos and district colors will not change the school colors for Central Mountain and Bucktail, “just the district colors, which were maroon in silver.”
Also on Friday, KCSD superintendent Jacquelyn Martin sent her weekly update and said that there are no confirmed staff cases of COVID-19 in any of the district’s schools. There are, however, three among students in two different schools.
Still, Martin said that she is pleased with the amount of students who are receiving in-person instruction.
“Each week we are pleased with the number of students who are returning for full in-person learning and very grateful for being able to continue with in-person learning for 10 weeks in a row. We believe that in-person learning works best for most of our students and we thank ALL of you for continuing to do your part to keep students safe and maintain our learning process,” Martin said in the email.
The most recent data for community spread for counties in the school district was also released. The numbers look like this: Clinton County — 116.5 (March 19), 88.0 (March 12), 178.6 (March 5), 201.9 (Feb. 26) and 134.6 (Feb. 19); Centre County — 218.6 (March 19), 121.9 (March 12), 113.3 (March 5), 127.5 (Feb. 26) and 208.8 (Feb. 19); Potter County — 30.3 (March 19), 54.5 (March 12), 30.3 (March 5), 102.9 (Feb. 26) and 66.6 (Feb. 19).
There are a few notable items on the district’s calendar. Martin noted that there is a four-day school week this coming week (March 22 through March 25). There is no school for students or staff on Friday, March 26 as it is a scheduled in-service day. There is also a spring break scheduled for students on Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5. She also said that the graduation dates are now confirmed as Friday, June 4 for Bucktail High School and Saturday, June 5 for Central Mountain High School.
There will also be several days of bundled breakfasts and lunches for all children ages 1 through 18 in the KCSD community. The distribution will take place on Monday, March 22 and Thursday, March 25 at the following locations from 5 to 6 p.m.: Robb Elementary (main entrance), Central Mountain High School (bus loop entrance in parking lot B) and Bucktail High School (main entrance).
The next Keystone Central school board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 1. That meeting is closed to the public but will be held via Zoom and accessible through the district website.
