High schools announce dates for graduation

High school graduation is right around the corner.

Last year, even though the coronavirus closed schools, some stuck with tradition and held standard graduation ceremonies. Others opted for drive-through events.

The Class of 2021 will graduate in the coming months and things will certainly look a little different this year.

School districts will be monitoring COVID-19 numbers until graduation day. All in-person events will adhere to the state's guidelines for gatherings, which limit outdoor events at 50 percent capacity and indoor events at 25 percent capacity.

All of the school districts in The Express' coverage area are shoring up plans for commencement. Here's a closer look at plans for Class of 2021:

Bald Eagle Area -- Graduation at Bald Eagle Area is planned for Wednesday, May 26. The graduation ceremony will be held at BEA's Alumni Stadium. Each student will receive four tickets, according to BEA superintendent Scott Graham.

Bellefonte -- At last week's school board meeting, high school principal Michael Fedisson announced that graduation will be held at Rogers Stadium on Thursday, June 3 with a rain date of Friday, June 4. For those students not wishing to take part in an in-person, a drive-through option will be available. Times have not been announced. It will be the first ceremony at the stadium since it was renovated.

Bucktail -- Bucktail High School will hold its ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 4 at the football stadium. BHS administrators are still determining how many tickets each student will receive.

Central Mountain -- Central Mountain High School will hold its ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 at Malinak Stadium. The rain date is Sunday, June 6.

Jersey Shore -- Jersey Shore will celebrate its Class of 2021 at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Thompson Street Stadium. No word on how many tickets each student will receive for the ceremony.

Sugar Valley -- The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will hold its ceremony at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9. The ceremony is scheduled to be held outdoors at the school, which is located at 236 E. Main St., Loganton.

Walnut Street Christian School -- The Walnut Street Christian School will hold its graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 28 at the school, which is located at 201 W. Highland St., Avis.
