Clinton County Fair opens today

Kids under 12 admitted free

CHRIS MORELLI/THE EXPRESS The 48th annual Clinton County Fair begins on Saturday, July 31 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 7. There will be plenty of rides. Kohana Yamashita, 11, of Loganton, holds her rooster on Friday afternoon inside one of the barns at the fairgrounds.

MACKEYVILLE — Family fun is back again at the 48th Annual Clinton County Fair… and this year for the first time ever kids under the age of 12 get in free.

That’s right, boys and girls 12 and under will have access to the rides, games, food, animals and educational exhibits at no cost to mom and dad all week.

Each day, admission is free to everyone until noon.

Those 12 and over visiting the grounds after noon must pay a $5 admission fee each day — or purchase a $25 week-long pass.

After a year off, the fair is back and full of events, livestock competitions and more for Clinton County residents and beyond to enjoy.

Are you a fan of first responders? You’ll be in luck as Glick Fire Equipment is sponsoring a First Responders Exhibit in the small pavilion in honor of the fair’s First Responders Day.

In the evening, be sure to visit the Open Show Exhibit Building to take part in the Baked Goods Auction at 5:30 p.m. and hop over to the Auxiliary Stage for a performance by Jeff Orin & the Cornerstone Band at 6.

Fans of cars will want to be at the racetrack at 7 p.m. to watch the figure eight and demolition derby.

On Sunday, truck fans should visit the pulling track at 11 a.m. for 4×4 Truck Pulls Street and Hot Classes.

At noon, the Clinton County Youth and FFA Beef and Dairy Show will kick off.

To honor sponsors and volunteers, the fair board will be hosting an appreciation luncheon from noon to 5 p.m. at the east end of the open show exhibit.

That night, kids may enjoy taking part in a DJ dance and volleyball games at the volleyball court.

The rest of the week will feature a variety of youth livestock competitions, special events and musical performances for all ages to enjoy. So be sure to get your friends together, load the family up in the car and head to Mackeyville for the fair!
