WINGATE -- A popular Centre County restaurant was heavily damaged in a fire Sunday night after flames ripped through multiple levels of the establishment.

Kelly's Diner, also known as Mountain Valley Dinner, located in Boggs Township, caught fire Sunday evening. Officials say the fire started in the basement and reached the first floor. Both levels are a complete loss, according to published reports.

First responders were dispatched to 850 S. Eagle Valley Road around 9:25 p.m. They arrived to find heavy smoke and fire. It reportedly took over an hour -- and seven fire departments -- to get things under control.

The fire started approximately 45 minutes after the diner had closed for the night.

The following fire departments battled the blaze: Logan Fire Company No. 1 of Bellefonte, Citizen's Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 of Milesburg, Howard Fire Company, Pleasant Gap Fire Company, Walker Township Fire Company, Port Matilda Fire Company No. 15 and the Snow Shoe Volunteer Fire Company.

Bellefonte EMS also responded to the scene.

There were no injuries reported. A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Owners Travis Fischer posted this statement on his personal Facebook page on Monday morning:

"Thank you to all the men and women who assisted at our Wingate facility last night. As we pick up the pieces our gratitude and appreciation to everyone that have extended their love and support," Fischer said. "This hits the heart of our family hard as we too gathered around those dinner tables for almost two decades with our loved ones. Once again thank you to those selfless fireman and women it could have been much worse."
