As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise statewide, there is an increase in demand for vaccines.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health's dashboard, vaccination numbers are up in Clinton, Centre, and Lycoming counties. The dashboard was not updated Monday, but according to data through Aug. 15, the numbers looked like this:
In The Express' coverage area, Centre County leads the way with 78,829 fully vaccinated and 6,070 partially vaccinated. Lycoming County is next with 46,079 fully vaccinated and 4,670 partially vaccinated. Clinton County has 13,745 fully vaccinated and 1,386 partially vaccinated.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced via Twitter that Pennsylvania has more than 80 percent of its adults vaccinated.
"Pennsylvania just hit a big vaccine milestone. More than 80% of Pennsylvania adults have received a dose of the COVID vaccine," Gov. Wolf tweeted. "Thank you to every Pennsylvanian who helped make it happen."
In Centre County, 52.2 percent are vaccinated. Lycoming has 44.7 percent vaccinated and Clinton County has 39.1 percent vaccinated.
Gov. Wolf also urged more Pennsylvanians to get vaccinated.
"If you haven't been vaccinated yet, please talk to your health care provider," he continued. "Vaccines are safe and free -- and they're the best way to prevent hospitalizations and death due to COVID."
Vaccines are readily available through health care providers and many pharmacies. To find a vaccination center in your area, visit vaccines.gov.
On Monday, Clinton County reported just one new case of COVID-19. Its total now stands at 3,820. Centre County reported eight new COVID-19 cases to bring its total to 17,294. Lycoming County added six new cases of the deadly virus to bring its total to 12,229.
Over the past week, Clinton County has added 44 new cases. Over the same period, Centre County has reported 119 new cases and Lycoming County reports 97 new cases.
On Monday, Pennsylvania added 1,446 positives to increase the statewide total to 1,251,965.
Clinton County is now at the highest level of community transmission. Centre County and Lycoming County remain substantial level of community transmission -- the second highest on the Centers for Disease Control scale.
At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people wear masks in public indoor settings.
Statewide, COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to rise. Pennsylvania has 1,115 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 51 since Sunday, with 301 in intensive care (up four) and 128 on ventilators.
As far as deaths are concerned, Lycoming has seen 300 of its residents die from COVID-19. Centre has seen 229 deaths and Clinton has had 68. A total of 27,966 Pennsylvanians have died as a result of COVID-19.
An estimated 96 percent of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.
