The uptick in cases of COVID-19 continues in the tri-county area.
On Thursday, Clinton County added 10 cases of COVID-19, but it was Centre and Lycoming counties that reported alarming jumps. Centre County added 57 new cases of the deadly virus, while Lycoming County added a whopping 61.
According to Pennsylvania Department of Health data, Centre County's 57 cases are its most since April 25. Centre County now has 17,766 cases of the virus. Clinton County now has 3,927 cases and Lycoming County has 12,745 cases.
Across the Commonwealth, Pennsylvania added 4,816 new positives. That is the most reported in one day since April 17. Pennsylvania's total now stands at 1,308,284.
The death total remained the same in all three counties. Lycoming County has seen 304 residents die as a result of COVID-19. Centre County has 98 deaths and Clinton County has 69.
There were 90 new COVID-19 deaths across the state. Pennsylvania's total now stands at 28,325.
As far as negative tests results are concerned, Clinton has seen 10,944 residents test negative. Centre County reports a total of 75,633 negative tests and Clinton County comes in with 10,944 negative test results.
Pennsylvania has 1,858 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 23 since Wednesday. A total of 481 are in intensive care (down one) and 229 on ventilators (down six). Hospitalizations are at their highest level since May 9, 2021.
According to DOH data, an estimated 93 percent of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered.
Clinton, Centre and Lycoming remain at the highest level for community transmission of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control scale, according to the latest county-level data update.
Across the state, 66 of Pennsylvania's 67 counties are at the high level of transmission. The exception is Bradford County, which is at the substantial level -- the second highest on the CDC scale.
Transmission levels are based on positivity rate and cases per 100,000 people for the previous seven days. At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings.
As far as vaccinations are concerned, 14,137 in Clinton County are fully vaccinated and 1,394 are partially covered. In Centre County, 80,594 are fully vaccinated and 6,508 are partially covered. And in Lycoming County, 47,709 are fully vaccinated and 4,659 are partially covered.
According to the CDC, 36.5 percent of Clinton County's entire population is fully vaccinated and 40.2 percent of adult residents have received at least one dose. In Centre County, 59.7 percent of the county's entire population is fully vaccinated and 66.6 percent of adult residents have received at least one dose. In Lycoming County, 42.1 percent of the county's entire population is fully vaccinated and 46.2 percent of adult residents have received at least one dose.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through healthcare providers and pharmacies listed at vaccines.gov.
