LOGANTON -- Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse released new information regarding the robbery at a rest area along Interstate 80 East in Greene Township, including the name of the suspected robber who was killed after a stand off with police.

"The suspect was identified as 27-year-old male, Nurgazy Mamyrov, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania," Strouse said in the release.

Strouse said state police responded to the rest area at 4:33 a.m. on Oct. 5 for a reported robbery with multiple shots fired.

"The suspect was identified by witnesses as the operator of a tractor trailer that was still located at the rest area," the report said.

"The alleged robbery occurred at the rest area as the suspect had reportedly "shot out" the vehicle windows of other motorists at the rest area. The suspect was also reported to be armed and chasing other motorists at the rest area," the report continued.

State police located Mamyrov who had "barricaded himself inside the tractor trailer."

Police tried to block Mamyrov from exiting the area and gave verbal commands to exit the tractor trailer.

"(Mamyrov) then drove forward and crashed into multiple patrol vehicles in the apparent attempt to strike troopers and gain entry onto Interstate 80 East," the report said. "State police then discharged their firearms, striking (Mamyrov) multiple times inside the cabin of the tractor trailer."

Police attempted to render aid but Mamyrov died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, later confirmed by an autopsy completed on Oct. 6, Strouse said.

As a result of the incident, several troopers suffered minor injuries and were treated by EMS at the scene.

The matter is still under investigation by Strouse's office as part of standard procedure for all officer involved shootings.

"Please note that the … release is a statement on the status of an active criminal investigation and in no way should be interpreted as a conclusion of guilt," Strouse said. "All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a Court of Law."
