BELLEFONTE -- The AMI testing site will be on the move -- again. It's headed back to the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority on Transfer Road in State College.
The move will take place on Jan. 4, 2022.
The Department of Health recently announced that it will continue its COVID-19 testing site for the general public in Centre County. The COVID-19 testing site is available through a partnership with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare (AMI).
The testing site is closed today through Sunday, Dec. 26. It will re-open on Monday, Dec. 27. It will remain open through Wednesday, Dec. 29 before closing for the New Year's Holiday. It will be closed Thursday, Dec. 30 through Monday, Jan. 3 before re-opening at the new site on Jan. 4, 2022.
The testing site has had several locations in Centre County. Currently, the site is located at the former Sears Auto Center, 183 Shiloh Road at the Nittany Mall in State College.
There are no age limits for testing. Testing is free, but an ID is required. It is open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
According to the Centre County Government website, individuals with insurance will be asked to provide an insurance card; however, no co-pay or any other cost is charged to the individual. Uninsured individuals will also be tested without cost to the person.
Anyone needing to be tested may access this site regardless of residency.
When the site does move, CCRRA is located at 253 Transfer Road in State College.
In Clinton County, free COVID-19 testing will run through Wednesday, Dec. 29. Clinton County will have testing from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 through Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Lock Haven University's East Campus Gymnasium, formerly the Lock Haven High School gymnasium, located at 340 W. Main St. in Lock Haven.
That site will test residents 3 and older. Tests are free but are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
