BELLEFONTE -- The former Cerro Metal Plant in Bellefonte, now known as Titan Energy Park, continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

During this week's Centre County Board of Commissioners' meeting, the commissioners approved application for payment number four for submission to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Governor's Budget Office. The application is for the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). The amount is $454,454, all for Titan Park I improvements.

The total funding awarded was $2.5 million with $2,414,678 paid to date and $85,322 remaining.

Titan Energy Park, located at 2042 Axemann Road in Bellefonte, houses Axemann Brewery, the Blonde Bistro and Titan Market. Recently, Alloy Kitchen, Mad McIntosh Cider, Witches' Hollow Winery and Titan Events joined the facility.

"The Titan metal plant has been great in cooperation between the state, the county and local municipalities," said commissioner Mark Higgins.

Higgins talked about the success of the facility.

"Wonderful things are happening there between the Axemann Brewery, the Blonde Bistro, Titan Market and now, the Titan Hollow, which is a combination of Mad McIntosh Cidery and Alloy Kitchen. SEDA-COG, our local regional economic development group, did provide a loan to assist Alloy Kitchen in its opening. So, a lot of government support here for our local small businesses," Higgins said.

Chair of the Board of Commissioners, Michael Pipe, said that he's pleased with the success at the facility.

"The investment and revitalization of the Titan Energy Park has been well-received by the Bellefonte and Centre County community," Pipe said. "It's exciting to see private and public investment combine for such an impactful outcome of support of small businesses."

Once a forge shop, a transformation has taken place over the past two years. Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring Township facility has been given new life.

Axemann Brewery continues to be the cornerstone of the development. The popular brewery features 25,000 square feet across two floors, outdoor deck seating overlooking Logan Branch and the hillside. It also features an expansive outdoor space, which is used during nice weather. The Blonde Bistro is an eatery located inside the brewery. Its hours coincide with the brewery.

Titan Market is the brainchild of Corinna Anskis. It is open on Fridays and Saturdays and for special events. The indoor market gives local shoppers a place to support area farmers, producers and artisans, all year-round. Titan Hollow is the newest tenant. It is home to Alloy Kitchen, Mad McIntosh Cider, Witches' Hollow Winery and Titan Events.
